2010 Historical Merit Badge Small2010 Historical Merit Badges

For the 100th Anniversary Celebration, four vintage merit badges are being released during the

Centennial Year only to give Boy Scouts the hands-on opportunity to experience the exciting past of

BSA. These merit badges closely resemble the original designs, however, they carry a shiny gold thread border to be immediately identifiable as a 2010 Historical Merit Badge. These badges, first offered in 1911, can be traced back to the origins of the BSA and the original merit badge requirements are used whenever possible. The badges are: Carpentry, Pathfinding, Signaller, Tracking.

All can be used towards rank advancement. The requirements are posted at www.scouting.org/100years and must be completed by December 31, 2010.

Lemonade Day Image SmallLemonade Day
May 2, 2010

Sam Houston Area Council, BSA is proud to be a Community Partner for Lemonade Day 2010 – an annual city-wide event sponsored by Prepared 4 Life (P4L) designed to teach youth how to start, own and operate their very own lemonade business. Lemonade Day brings together the business and volunteer sectors of our community to focus on preparing youth for entrepreneurship, leadership and a responsible life! Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts can learn how to set goals, find investors, select their site, build a stand, purchase supplies, make healthy products, advertise, serve their customers, account for sales, open a bank account and give back to their community. They will learn how to run their own company and in the process, gain essential leadership skills that are core Scouting values.

Book it for your Unit: May 2, 2010
