Raven District Trail to Troop

The registration fee is $11.50 for the first participant and then $10.00 for each additional participant and includes a patch. Registration is online with credit card or electronic check and is typically completed by the unit leader or Webelos den leader. Individual registration (parent and Webelos Scout) are permitted if the unit is not attending. There is no onsite registration. Council refund policy.

Late-Breaking Information

Please sign up for our district Facebook Page and district e-mail list as that is where late-breaking and emergency information will be posted. Webelos Woods is held rain or shine unless there is going to be dangerous weather.

Program

Throughout the day, 4^th and 5^th grade Webelos Scouts will learn skills taught by Scouts in area troops. The Webelos Scouts will then demonstrate their newly learned skills in competitions. Tentative competitions include:

• First aid
• Knot tying 
• Campsite setup
• Fire building 
• Teamwork 
• Flag etiquette  
• Scout spirit

Arrow of Light Ceremony

An Arrow of Light ceremony will be conducted on Saturday night at 7:15 pm for fifth grade Webelos Scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light rank. Family members are invited to attend the ceremony. Guests should arrive between 6:45 - 7:00 pm. This is a very special event!! 

Register Webelos Scouts for the ceremony using the registration link above. It is the responsibility of the Webelos Scout leader to ensure that the Webelos Scouts have completed all the requirements for the rank.

The Webelos den leader should notify the Scoutmasters of the troops which Webelos Scouts plan to join so the troop can send a representative to the ceremony.

What to Bring

Personal gear:

• Copy of BSA Annual Health and Medical Record (Part A & B for all Scouting events) for every Scout and adult attending (all participants)
• Tent with ground cloth
• Sleeping bag
• Jacket, raingear, hat
• Clothing appropriate for the weather
• Extra change of clothes
• Mess kit; camp cup
• Personal items
• Field (Scout shirt) and activity (Scout t-shirt) uniform
• Webelos Handbook (optional)
• Hand sanitizer
• Folding chairs
• Fishing gear (optional)
• Bike (optional); helmet required for bike riding

Den gear:

• Water containers for hauling water
• Cooking gear and food
• First-aid kit (required – one per pack is acceptable)
• Trash bags
• Den flag
• Den food (Saturday lunch should be a non-cooking lunch)
• Den menu and duty roster
• Items for campsite inspection
• Fire pit (no ground fires)
• Optional items:  marshmallows and sticks, raised firebox and wood (if you want a fire), 5-gallon buckets and shovel (to remove all ashes and unused wood), canopy

Notice!  Please be advised that promotional videotaping/photography may be in progress at any time at an event. Your entrance constitutes your agreement that the council and district has the right to reproduce your likeness in videography/photography for promotion (e.g., publications, internet, newspaper). 

Scouting Safely

The BSA's Commitment to Safety is ongoing and we want you to know that the safety of our youth, volunteers, staff, and employees cannot be compromised. The Boy Scouts of America puts the utmost importance on the safe and healthy environments for its youth membership. The Sam Houston Area Council takes great strides to ensure the safety of its youth as well as the adult volunteer leadership that interacts with them. 

BSA Guide to Safe Scouting policies must be followed. All participants must follow youth protection guidelines at all Scouting events. Highlights include:

• Two-deep leadership on all outings required.  
• One-on-one contact between adults and youth members is prohibited. 
• The buddy system should be used at all times. 
• Discipline must be constructive.

Health and safety must be integrated into everything we do, to the point that no injuries are acceptable beyond those that are readily treatable by Scout-rendered first aid. As an aid in the continuing effort to protect participants in Scout activities, the BSA National Health and Safety Committee and the Council Services Division of the BSA National Council has developed the SAFE Checklist of BSA safety procedures for physical activity. These points, which embody good judgment and common sense, are applicable to all activities.
