District Awards

• The District Award of Merit is a council award presented for continuous service to the Scouting program at the district level. Number presented is determined per guidelines in BSA Advancement Policies and Procedures Guidebook. The recognition is the District Award of Merit overhand knot and plaque. The nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth and should have contributed to some type of service to youth outside of Scouting.
• Family of the Year: The family is an important part of Scouting. Family support for each youth is vital to their success in Scouting. Those parents who volunteer as leaders are a vital support for other kids as well as their own. The extra effort that parents put forth as leaders, in addition to their family responsibilities, deserve to be recognized. But when the whole family is involved in Scouting, they deserve recognition all the more. The Family of the Year award is a way to honor these families by selecting, from those nominated, the family whose work as a team in Scouting has made the greatest difference in our community.
• The Thunder Wolf Award is presented to Scouters who have rendered noteworthy service to youth of Thunder Wolf District and should have contributed some service to youth in the community outside of Scouting. The service may consist of either a single action that affected a large group of youth in Scouting or service to a small group of youth for an extended period of time. Earning Scouter awards, knots and keys as well as training are taken in consideration, as well as the nominee’s attitude toward and cooperation with district and council. 
• The Unit Award of Excellent recognizes units that conduct their Scouting programs in a manner that supports the district's efforts in the areas of membership, advancement, finance, service camping and conducting a quality program.

Additional Adult Awards: Council and National Awards

• Silver Beaver Award is a national award presented by the council. It is the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer. Nominations are due by May 1. The District Recognition Chair is available to assist Scouters in preparing nominations.
• Unit Leader Award of Merit recognizes Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, Crew Advisors, and Skippers who provide a quality program to youth. Nominations accepted at any time.
• Venturing Leadership Award recognizes Venturers who have made exceptional contributions to Venturing and who exemplify the Venturing Code. Nominations are due by June 15.
• William T. Hornaday Gold Badge recognizes adult volunteers for influence on youth and educational programs, with an emphasis on sound stewardship of natural resources and environmental improvement during a period of at least three years.
• SHAC Conservation Award recognizes youth for completing a Hornaday qualifying conservation project, and adult volunteers for involvement in teaching the value of natural systems and wise resource management.
• William D. Boyce New-Unit Organizer Award recognizes volunteers who organize one or more traditional Scouting units. The recognition is a knot and a certificate.
• Training Awards (click the link, then scroll down to training awards at the bottom) - recognizes unit Scouters for tenure, training, and performance in their leadership roles.
