Campership

CampershipThe council is dedicated to ensuring all Scouts can attend camp. The campership program seeks to increase the number of Scouts enjoying outdoor experiences at Sam Houston Area Council camps and programs by providing financial assistance to Scouts who wish to participate in our programs.

The purpose of campership aid is to make attending camping programs possible for deserving Scouts who otherwise would not be able to meet the fee requirements. Scouters may also need camperships to attend training and/or be able to provide leadership so more Scouts can attend camp.

All Scouts and Scouts who receive campership help are encouraged to earn or provide part of the fee, in keeping with the ninth part of the Scout Law...A Scout is Thrifty.

This campership fund is made possible through donations, Friends of Scouting (FOS), and popcorn sales.

To be eligible, a family must complete the Campership Request Form, including details regarding the family situation and Scouting participation.

It is expected that the family will fund some portion of the child's expenses; the council will strive to subsidize the remainder. As a rule of thumb, the council is willing to support funding based on need.

All funds will be awarded based on need and available funds. All applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

All campership requests must be submitted prior to registering for the program

Camperships can be requested for Cub Scout day camp, Adventure Camp, and Resident Camp; select OA, Sea Scouts and Venturing events; and Scouts BSA events (e.g., winter camp, summer camp, Full Throttle, Trail to Eagle Camp, STEM Camp); and select training events.
