The award recognizes the Scout for his Eagle Scout leadership service project, which is part of the requirements for earning the Eagle Scout Award.” All Scouts are required to perform a service project in order to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. A Scout must plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project.
